We are thrilled to announce that Hem has opened its first permanent US showroom! Located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, our new industrial space is shared with Madera, an independent design brand that provides curated hardwood selections to the architecture and design community.
In collaboration with THIS x THAT, an agency bringing together innovative projects at the intersections of art, design and architecture, Hem commissioned Clark Thenhaus to create a site-specific installation in the showroom’s courtyard space. Following the Pink Counter created by Soft Baroque for Hem’s London Pop-up Shop, this collaboration continues our mission to work with the industry’s most cutting-edge designers and artists.
The Hem LA Showroom’s interior is inspired by California’s famed sunsets. Luminous blue fabric dividers, coral-pink BAUX walls, custom deep-green shelves, and glowing neon light lend an atmosphere of contemporary elegance. Furnished with Hem pieces like the award-winning Kumo Sofa, as well as Zig Zag Shelves, Stripe Rugs, Alphabeta Lamps, and Alle Tables, the space creates small islands to invite dialogue amongst Hem staff, visitors, and interior professionals.
The vibrant Confetti Courtyard installation by Clark Thenhaus re-imagines the atrium as a lively and kinetic layering of architecture. Super-sized confetti graphics wrap up the walls and fold down onto the floors, implying alcoves that encourage social interactions and dynamic mingling. Confetti Courtyard sets a uniquely animated backdrop for ongoing events that will be hosted throughout the year at the L.A. Showroom.
